Medical Fitness

You need to be medically fit to dive: check the PADI medical statement or SSI medical statement depending on your choice of course (PADI or SSI respectively). In case there is a YES to any of the conditions listed, you need to obtain a medical clearance from a doctor before you start any in-water activity. Please bring (ONLY if there is a YES) page 1 and 2 (original copy signed by your doctor) of the medical statement with you to the Andaman Islands!

PADI vs. SSI

For every course you can choose between the PADI or SSI certification. Both PADI and SSI courses are very similar in content and application. They both give you a license that is valid lifelong and recognised all over the world by any dive center. With SSI you are not required to purchase any study material (exception is Dive Master) so there is a minor cost benefit!

It is a safe and easy course when you know how to swim and is a lot of fun.

What do I learn?

The SD/OWD course has three components – theory, confined and open water. It follows a gradual progression of knowledge, skill, ability and comfort mastering. The theory will give you an in-depth understanding about SCUBA diving. During the confined (lagoon or shallow reef) training we teach you how to dive: how you put on your equipment, how to breath, control your buoyancy and dive. The focus during the confined training is on practicing skills that are essential to your safety and comfort. The last step is your dives: 2 dives or 4 dives for SD or OWD respectively. This is in the Open Sea where we assess you upon your diving, comfort, safety and skill rehearsal.

Our Approach

We believe in personal attention, therefore our groups are never more than 4 students to 1 instructor. We will never rush you or compromise on your training and safety. Our aim is to make you a proficient, safe and comfortable diver.

Do I need to know swimming?

You do not need to be an Olympic swimmer but are expected to have a certain comfort and stamina level during your training.

Swimming Skills: Required
Min. Age: 18 years

Who is this course for?

The DM course is the first step towards becoming a professional diver as you become responsible for other divers. If you have a deep and abiding passion for the ocean and love it with all your heart, then this course enables you to choose a new career and do what you love for a living. Now you can be outdoors and have fun both above and beneath the surface!

Benefits

Working closely with our team of Instructors and Dive Masters, in this programme you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to that of a professional. The DM training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

What do I learn?

This is not a course where we want you to tick the boxes to be certified. On the contrary, you have to be qualified and experienced before you assume responsibility for other divers. We therefore advise everyone to follow the “internship” programme where our staff will teach you how to run the logistics of a dive shop, maintain equipment, conduct a course (although you will only be assisting), lead a fun dive, conduct a SCUBA experience and overall manage the safety and comfort of a group of divers in a fun and friendly atmosphere. You learn from others and from your own experience by doing things! We ask for your full commitment because you need to earn your ranking.
